Casimir
‘Slat’ Sczlatski
Slat
was raised in an orphanage in Milwaukee where he learned how to survive
in a tough environment. After Viet Nam he joined the police department.
The years proved Slat to be a top cop/detective. With his idealism subsiding
as he entered middle age, he spent his nights drinking at Ski's Inn. After
the discovering of a murdered altar boy he became pitted against Vatican
attorney Tony Tattaglia.
Tony
Tattaglia
After dropping out of the seminary Tony became an attorney. He then spent
several years working for the anti-terrorist unit of the Vatican. He was
assigned to snatch the pedophile priest out of Pulaski before police obtained
a murder indictment.
Sue
Hershel
A
detective who is in love with Slat. She was the first female cop at her
former department, and she doesn’t want to be a pioneer again. Partnered
with Dawn Mazurski they are assigned the homicide of a sexually murdered
altar boy.
Dawn
Mazurski
She hates the city of Pulaski, where she was born and raised. Where her
sister, her Polish father, and her Jamaican mother were ostracized. She
sets out to get even. No friends. Antagonistic. She falls in love with
a black gambler. She is dedicated to the police chief Martin Turski who
she sees as another victim of Pulaski prejudices.
Chief
Martin Turski
He is a retired Chicago police captain appointed chief of the Pulaski,
Wisconsin Police Department. His no-nonsense ethics irritates the politicians,
the Tavern Keepers Association and the Church. They all conspire to oust
him.

A
parish priest at St. Michaels in Pulaski. He is the police chaplain.

Patrick Daley
A priest and financial
secretary of the archdiocese of Milwaukee.

of the parish council at St. Michaels Church. Does not like outsiders like
Chief Turski.
